After my conversation with Kitty, I needed every distraction from my thoughts that I could find. But I wasn’t ready. I wasn’t ready to turn the page yet after all I have lived with her. So I decided to write a letter to her, even if I felt I would probably never send it to her. I poured out everything I had in my heart:
‘Dear Kitty,
I hope you are doing well. I guess you’ve already turned the page with me. But, please, you have to read this and I swear, I will never bother you again. It’s not an apology letter. I just wanted to thank you for having been here for me when Barber passed away, even if it was over between us. But most of all, thank you for having been here for me these last few years. You are the best thing that happened to me. You’ve saved me and I will always be grateful to you for that. I didn’t fall in love with you because I was desperate but because when I saw you for the first time, I knew immediately I wanted to be part of your life.
I failed miserably to make you happy while you deserve it so much. I’m sincerely sorry for that. I wish we could come back in a time when we were in our apartment, just you and me. I can still remember you, in my arms, smiling and listening carefully to the sound of my voice. Nevermind, I have to move on as you did. I sincerely wish you the best and I hope you will find someone who makes you truly happy. If you don’t love me anymore, it’s ok. I was lucky to have your love, once in my life. For me, you will always be the Dragon Lady of my heart, my Dragon Lady.
Love from MSF’
I went to the post office to send it to Kitty. I was going to post it but something stopped me. I just couldn’t make it, it was too hard. It took me some time to notice that actually, tears were starting to flow over my face. So I closed my eyes and I saw Kitty behind the window of our apartment.. I smiled to her. She smiled to me. I decided to keep this last image of her in my head and I finally felt…peace. I burnt the letter and I moved on. I let her go.
Les élèves de terminale LLCE anglais ont réalisé une exposition dans la coupole, à la suite de notre lecture de MOON PALACE au programme national .
Bonne lecture:-)
The Terminale LLCE students have worked with Ms. PETIT on an « entertaining task » in order to conclude the sequence on MOON PALACE, a novel from PAUL AUSTER.
Depending on the students’ plastic or literary abilities, they were asked either to include a chapter to be inserted into the novel or to write a final chapter or a press review, or to produce an artistic work related to the novel. They have loved this bubble of oxygen in their intense 12th grade courses and have finally exhibited their works in the school dome.
Come and have fun, you won’t regret it!
Thanks to Martine, our Executive Secretary, for her spontaneous help and thank you to the management team who has supported us in our project!
Thank you dear students to have managed to find time to complete the work and to have nicely responded to the teacher’s request.
Congratulations to you, students, whose talent and ingenuity are remarkable.
